Guilty pleasures: everybody has them. Whether it be a television show, a hobby, or a musical artist. This honestly just looks like a good time to embarrass myself, because that’s why they are called guilty pleasures. We love these things we think aren’t considered cool—or even good in general—by others. So I guess here are twenty random things that I love, even though I would rather these weren’t known publicly:
Staying home on a Friday or Saturday night
I like my alone time, and I am very vocal about that. I feel bad that family and friends want to spend time and I just want to lay in my bed or clean my room, but hey, that’s just who I am.
Putting on a concert
I really like to play music on with headphones in, and lip sync, using all the emotions and some rad dance moves. I may or may not do this on a daily basis…the world may never know.
Watching YouTube vlogs
This one is relatively recent, but I’ve gotten into watching ex-Viners’ lives almost on a daily basis. Mostly, I watch David Dobrik, Liza Koshy, Heath Hussar, Scotty Sire, and Zane Hijazi’s vlogs. And all of those guys are friends, so it’s like watching the same thing happen from four different points of view. I’m kind of obsessed, and I sound like a lame 14-year-old. Yikes.
Adam Sandler movies
I actually wish I felt more guilty about this, but I literally love watching him and his friends do stupid stuff and call it funny. They make me laugh, and Click makes me cry every time I watch it.
Speaking of crying, whenever I feel like I should let out a good cry, I intentionally will put on a random sad movie or Parenthood. It usually does the trick.
Binge watching YouTube videos
This one kind of goes hand –in-hand with the vlogger videos, but I can’t lie—I’ve watched a whole lot of marriage proposals (specifically flash mobs), baby announcements, gender reveals, Nick Pitera, audition fails, and soldiers coming home to their families. I might have a problem.
Baby Name Genie
So I have had this really sad obsession with names for a very, very long time. Like since middle school, long time. I’ve literally only ever told maybe two people about this, but it’s really bad. I can’t stop. And this website called Baby Name Genie is not helping with all their polls for me to put my opinion in.
whether it be a DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) or an ABC original movie, I watch a lot of them. They’re so predictable, and bad a lot of the time when it comes to plot holes (or in general), but I love them regardless. Halloweentown, Pixel Perfect, Luck of the Irish, Right on Track, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, The Thirteenth Year, Seventeen Again, Holes, Stuck in the Suburbs, The Cheetah Girls, High School Musical, 12 Dates of Christmas, Beauty and the Briefcase, Get A Clue, Starstruck…I’ve watched them all, many times.
Okay, so I’m not horribly guilty about this one, but a lot of people make jokes about how their grandma watches Dancing with the Stars. I’ve watched DWTS, religiously, for years. I’ve literally said at one point in my life that I’d date Derek and Val, and marry Mark, but now Mark’s married, so I had to move on to Alan. I’ve also recently got into Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and I know what you’re thinking. I’ve bashed on the Kardashians and everything Kardashian-related for a very long time. And now I’m almost finished with season twelve on Hulu. Kourtney’s my favorite.
I don’t do this nearly as often as I used to, but at least half the time I do order something online, it’s to get something in the mail that isn’t a bill. My latest purchases are a bathing suit (because I can’t find mine), and a Clickbait t-shirt by David Dobrik and Liza Koshy…yeah the vlogger obsession is that bad.
I haven’t watched this show in a couple months, but I’ve re-watched it a handful of times. I had the biggest crush on Puck basically the entire show, and I have a love for Darren Criss that just won’t seem to go away. And I even like their version of some songs more than the original. Also I just really have to mention the way they tribute Cory Monteith’s unexpected death has literally brought me to tears on multiple occasions. This show is just plain fantastic in my eyes.
Hear me out on this one. I know this movie will never be able to truly compare to the original, but the music is so good! I was obsessed with Cool Rider for, like, four years. I will agree the final song of the musical was horrible, but have you listened to Reproduction or Score Tonight or Who’s That Guy? If the film had its own name and storyline, it wouldn’t have gotten as much criticism as it did.
Doing my makeup when my hair looks good right before bed
Don’t you just hate it when your hair looks so freaking good when you have nowhere to go? My prime time is usually right before I’m going to bed, so I’ll put on some eyeliner, red lipstick, and blast some music. This is also usually when I put on my concert.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup
A meal made by a very poor girl, who enjoys bread and cheese way more than she should. I could probably live off of grilled cheese and tomato soup, but I would end up weighing like four hundred pounds. And I’m not trying to weigh four hundred pounds.
Hitting the repeat button
Whenever I discover a new song I like, I have to listen to it until I know all the words. And then I listen to it until I either get sick of it or I find another song. Currently on replay is Attention by Charlie Pluth, Passionfruit by Drake, There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back by Shawn Mendes, Malibu by Miley Cyrus, and Slow Hands by Niall Horan. I’m honestly really lucky that I have multiple songs this time around.
This one might sound kind of weird, but I seriously have a love/hate relationship with manicures and pedicures. I love it when they look pretty afterwards, but I hate spending the money. I also hate that I almost kick someone in the face every time I get a pedicure (because I’m so ticklish). I literally only get them maybe once a month, but I feel a litle more put together afterwards; it’s basically the same feeling you get when your bra and underwear match. Which is obviously amazing.
Late night meals
I actually haven’t been doing this the last week or so, but that’s mostly because we don’t really have any food in the house. I’ve always had an issue with eating late night snacks (and I like to call them my midnight snacks). I usually grab chips or make a sandwich, and it’s such a bad habit that I’ve been wanting to break for a long time.
Popping pimples and removing blackheads
I know a few people that get the same satisfaction when they pop pimples, but removing blackheads honestly makes me feel more human than alien after the fact (but very gross in the moment).
Knowing random facts
A lot of people that I know hate when I throw random facts at them, but I can’t help myself! I have to mentally hold myself back from saying something I know when I’m around specific people, just because I’ve received so many complaints. It makes me so sad that family, friends, and strangers alike don’t like learning useless information as much as I do.
Watching too much of everything
I like movies and television a lot, and everybody knows that. So much to the point I can quote a ton of shows and entire films. I am not too proud of this fact, but I don’t necessarily hang my head in shame, either. I figured this one had to be on this list solely because I’ve had many complains about this one, just like knowing too many useless facts. I should probably work for Google.
Prompt: What are some of your guilty pleasures? List them.
