A lot of my own personal dialogue is made up of quotes from movies and television shows. It’s not necessarily that I am completely unoriginal (I think), it’s basically just that some characters in the shows and films that I watch say things that I find entertaining enough to use in my everyday language.
(FYI, I’m also one of those people that when I quote something, I’ll follow up by yelling, “Name that movie!” or “Name that show!”)(Most of the time, nobody knows what I’m saying.)
I think I enjoy quoting television shows more than movies, but I’m going to give it a shot to think about the movie lines that I say probably a little too often:
“They were cones!” – Sammy, The Wedding Singer
“You blew it!” – Billy, Billy Madison
“Will somebody get the kid a happy meal?” – Sonny, Big Daddy
“That was one time!” – Mean Girls
“Numba three, my lord!” – Guard, Shrek
“That’ll do, Donkey. That’ll do.” – Shrek, Shrek
“Another glorious morning. Makes me sick!” – Winifred, Hocus Pocus
“I don’t say blah blah blah,” – Dracula, Hotel Transylvania
“Run, Forrest, Run!” Jenny, Forrest Gump
Prompt: What movie quotes do you use often? List them.
