“You’re deserted on an island, but you can have five items with you. What five items do you take?” Good question.
I know that if I want to say my phone or iPad with me, I’d be told that there isn’t anywhere for me to charge it up after it does, so I’d say that I want a generator. Generators only last however long until they need charging themselves, so we’ll nix those ideas altogether.
If I were to be more realistic, I’d want to have a knife. It would come in handy for making shelter, killing my dinner, and whatever else I would eventually need it for. So there’s one.
I’d also want a notebook and a pen for writing. If I’m going to be all alone on an island with nothing else better to do, I might as well as use my time to write as much as I can—at least until I have no paper left.
And since I can’t bring any form of music with me to Gilligan’s Island (because, you know, batteries and outlets are pretty limited), I’d have to bring a book with me that I can tolerate for as long as possible. Since the last one I read was Adultolescence, and I really loved that book, I’ll pick that one.
The last thing I would probably take with me is either a large sheet or blanket. I’m sure I would need to keep warm at some points, and you know for a fact that this girl isn’t about to let herself freeze. (And you probably thought I was going to say some type of food…)
Prompt: A classic question, revisited: what are the five items you would take with you on a deserted island?
